Networking 2.Oh! This is Awesome!

Networking events can be incredibly valuable for the organizer (lead gen, anyone?), but don’t forget it should be the same way for attendees. We’ve all been to networking events that look less professional networking event and more middle school dance.

Unfortunately, most of the challenges in planning for these events aren’t obvious until the day of. Sure you can think ahead to: “what’s the topic” “what venue” “who is our audience”, but you’re less likely to think about things like: food/beverage preference types and quantities, location proximity to audience, audience flow at venue, etc. All that to say, be wary of the details, people remember the small things.

While there are a number of moving parts to planning a networking event, having a checklist can be helpful. Consider the following when planning your next event.

  • Decide on format, topic, and/or theme (casual/formal, panel discussion, interactive)
  • Budget
  • Set Day/Time
  • Book expert speakers
  • Identify discussion facilitators
  • Venue
  • Evaluate and Choose Invite Platform (Eventbrite, Meetup, etc)
  • How and what will you brand
  • Food
  • Beverage
  • Entertainment
  • Transportation
